It’s finally happening! If you are looking forward to Get Verified on Instagram. No more waiting for the Instagram pixie to bless you with the blue tick Instagram verified account! No more market for purchasing verification (yes, people selling that!). Now, you too can apply to be verified on Instagram.
Instagram account verification application will be shortly available to all, whether you’re using Instagram for a personal or business promotion. That doesn’t mean we’ll all be verified, though. You’ll see in this tutorial that describing the process is intended to verify accounts for a “famous public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity it represents.” But there is a way how to get Instagram verification for a non-celebrity person: work on your media mentions, features on news sources, build credibility all this will increase chances to get the coveted Instagram badge.
While there’s value to all of us in getting verified on Instagram. Those with the most followers and highest reach do have the most to lose. So, we can expect there to be some (indeterminate) threshold of followers or reach required to be accepted. The rest of us should just keep on increasing our followers and reach until, we qualify as well!
That said, there is no harm in applying – and a lot you could gain, if you’re approved.
Does the sought-after blue badge really mean anything? It does! In order to be verified, you have to upload some personal information which identifies you as the REAL you or as a brand. Also, you get some pretty cool benefits, which can make a real difference in your Instagram marketing.
If you’re the least Insta-famous, you’ve likely been mimicked on Instagram at least once. While you and your friends should report these hooligans, it’s frustrating, a waste of time, and can make people suspicious of even genuine accounts. Having that blue check is reassurance to your viewers and followers that you are the real gem. And trust is so important on social media!
Instagram verified accounts were the first to able to link their Instagram stories to blog posts, landing pages, product listings for promotion – just about anything! Now that you don’t essentially have to have ten thousand followers to get verified. We can all expect to be able to generate a lot more traffic from Instagram!
Just make sure you use a traceable link so you can tell where those clicks are coming from (we like bit.ly)
How to Get Verified on Instagram (and Links in Stories)
It’s simple! Just:
- Visit your Instagram profile.
- Click on the menu
- Click on the “settings” gear.
- Find and click on “Request Verification.”
- Enter your full name (your personal name). Notice the disclaimer: “Submitting a request for verification does not guarantee that your account will be verified.”
- Upload a photo of your ID. This could be any one of:
- Driver’s license (with name and D.O.B)
- Passport (with name and D.O.B)
- National ID Card (with name and D.O.B)
- Business tax filing
- Business utility bill
- Article of incorporation.
That’s it! Instagram will let you know once they’ve reviewed your request. I’ve just applied, so I’ll have to come back and update you with the reply and how long it takes – assuming they accept my application. I can imagine they are being inundated right now!
